5 things you should know about PlantFusion

As a masters endurance athlete who has completed more than 25 marathons and ultra marathons, I require more protein than most other people my age. In May, I completed my first 100K at the Ultra Race of Champions (UROC), which followed my first Boston Marathon in April.

Suffice it to say that my training thus far in 2019 has been the most hard-core that I have experienced. I trained six or seven days a week, mostly running but I also did some biking and other cross training to prepare for my goal race at UROC.

That training workload amounted to my three highest-volume months ever for mileage, topping out at 259.9 miles in March. As of late May, I am closing in on 900 running miles, which is roughly two-thirds of what I usually accomplish in a year.

To say that recovery has been a key for my performance is an understatement. It’s important for me — especially because my diet falls somewhere between vegan and pescatarian — to get enough protein so that my body can repair itself. There were days when I struggled to get enough protein, which caused me to feel tired and depleted.

After trying different options, the best solution I found was PlantFusion.

PlantFusion Smoothie Bowl

Here is one of my favorite combinations, a PlantFusion Smoothie Bowl. It can be adapted easily enough to fit your preferences for thickness and flavors.

These are the ingredients I use for a smoothie bowl, which I combine with more fruit and granola. It can also be used as a regular smoothie. For a thicker consistency for the bowl, use less almond milk (or whatever milk you prefer).


1 scoop PlantFusion Complete Protein Chocolate Powder

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 banana

1 small to medium sized apple

½ cup blueberries

½ cup spinach

1 tablespoon Acai powder

Dash of cinnamon


½ cup of granola

5 strawberries


Cut up the banana and apple.

Add all the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.

Add toppings to taste and enjoy!
