Eli Ruby CBD gummies provide relief, reduce stress

The Eli Ruby Mango Peach Gummy has a 5:1 CBD/THC ratio, which is one of the highest potencies and purity on the market.

By Henry Howard

I’ve dealt with my share of stress, anxiety and sleep issues over the past several years. Various methods I’ve tried have to one degree or another provided some relief that does not seem to last long.

Perhaps the initial relief was a placebo effect, or some other factor.

I had been curious about whether CBD would work and decided to give Eli Ruby gummies a try. (For full disclosure, they provided some of their gummies as a sample.) I tried the Blueberry Lemon (10:1) and Mango Peach (5:1 Delta). Please note that this is not to be considered medical advice. Consult your medical professional for advice on whether this is right for you.

The reason I chose to try Eli Ruby's products is that they are 100% plant hemp-derived, have undergone rigorous third-party testing (see the independent lab test results here) and meet the federal guidelines under the 2018 Farm Bill.

How CBD gummies work

If you are curious, like I was, about how CBD gummies work, here’s a primer.

CBD gummies interact with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is a system of receptors and enzymes that regulate bodily functions such as sleep, appetite, pain and inflammation. CBD binds itself to the body's CB1 and CB2 receptors, which are involved in pain relief, inflammation, and mood regulation.

The Mango Peach Gummy has a 5:1 CBD/THC ratio, which is one of the highest potencies and purity on the market. I tried this one first and found that it soothed me and allowed me to fall asleep quickly even when traveling, which is not always the case for me. (Also notable: Among the places I tried this gummy was in Denver. According to Eli Ruby, research has not shown any side effects from altitude, even the 5,280 feet above sea that Denver has to offer.)

The Super Lemon Blueberry Gummy combines natural plant-derived cannabinoids with 100 mg CBD and 10 mg of hemp-derived Delta 9 THC. The result for me was about the same for this one as well, though I have not tried it while away from home yet.

Answers to questions about CBD gummies

What dose of CBD gummies should I take?

Start with a low dose and increase it gradually until you find what works best for you. I broke the gummies into thirds, and took one at a time, when needed. Eli Ruby recommends taking CBD consistently for several weeks to allow it to build up in your system but monitoring your symptoms and adjusting as necessary.

How long does it take for CBD gummies to work?

According to Eli Ruby, some people may not feel anything immediately because CBD is a slow-acting compound. Others report feeling the effects of CBD within 30 minutes. Personally, I felt tired and drowsy about a half-hour after taking it, though I took the gummies around the time I usually am winding down for the day.

Are there side effects when taking CBD gummies?

CBD is generally well-tolerated but there are people who experience side effects, according to Eli Ruby. Side effects are usually mild and include dry mouth, drowsiness, or fatigue.

It is notable that these products may cause adverse reactions in some people. Those cases would involve an allergic reaction or interaction with a medication the person is taking.

What’s the difference between CBD and THC gummies?

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, meaning it does not produce the "high" associated with THC. CBD has a variety of potential benefits, including reducing anxiety, inflammation and pain.

THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid, meaning it does produce the "high" associated with marijuana. THC has also been shown to have a variety of potential benefits, including reducing nausea and vomiting, stimulating appetite, and relieving pain.

The main difference between CBD and THC gummies is the amount of CBD and THC they contain. CBD gummies typically contain very little THC, while THC gummies typically contain a significant amount of THC.

What else should I know about Eli Ruby’s gummies?

Eli Ruby’s gummies are verified and tested through a third-party facility. Those results are published with the Certificate of Analysis and you can find them here. Their hemp extracts are made in the United States and produced in a FDA-registered facility. They do not use heavy metals, residual solvents, pesticides, preservatives or any contaminates.

Has the FDA approved CBD for specific conditions?

The FDA has not yet approved CBD for any condition. While it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, many studies have shown promising results.

In November 2017, the World Health Organization (WHO) report, determined "that CBD is safe and well tolerated in humans and animals. It is not associated with any negative health effects."
