Jabra Elite 75t are innovative wireless earbuds for athletes

By Henry Howard

I rarely, if ever, run, bike or do cross-training without listening to podcasts or music. In the early days of my running journey, that meant earbuds being tethered to my phone with a long cord dangling by my side.

Years ago I bought a small iPod Shuffle that I would attach to my waistband. That allowed me to rid my arm of the phone holder but limited my options — just whatever songs I could fit onto the Shuffle.

Still the Bluetooth technology served as the harbinger of better options. I tried a variety of headphone options from the poor (Urbanears, low-quality headphones with even poorer customer service) to the acceptable (Yurbuds, decent headphones with acceptable customer service). More recently, I have been using AfterShokz, which has excellent customer service and good overall earbuds.

Recently I received a sample from Jabra, the Elite 75t, for a review.

Easy to charge, easy to use

I’ve been impressed with Jabra’s growth since I tried an earlier model, the Sport Pace. They make a variety of Bluetooth options that can be used by anyone from endurance athletes to on-the-go moms and dads to headset options for the workforce whether employees are in the office, a coffee shop or at home..

Like a previous pair of Jabras I had, the 75t’s Bluetooth technology is simple to set up and easy to use.

I am really blown away by the innovative charging kit that Jabra has created. No more connecting the earbuds to a laptop, or hearing the dreaded, “Battery low,” upon starting out on a long run.

The charging kit is where I store my Elite 75t set so not only is it easy to remember where they are, they are getting charged between uses.

Jabra says the Elite 75t earbuds can last up to 5 1/2 hours on a single charge – and up to 24 hours together with their powerful charging case with the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on. If you use them without ANC, they will last up to 28 hours in the case. Forgot to charge them before a workout? No worries. A quick 15-minute charge as you get ready for the workout will get you an hour of battery life.

Once charged, carefully place them in your ears and press the right bud to activate. Press the left bud to turn on or off the HearThrough option.

Just what is ANC?

Unlike other earbuds I have tried, the Jabra Elite 75t version allows the user to be able to hear his or her surroundings or block them out entirely.

When I am on the stationary bike, at my local YMCA or doing a home workout, I use ANC. That allows me to enjoy the high-quality audio sound without interruption.

However, when I take the Jabras on a run with me, I use the HearThrough option, which allows me to enjoy my podcast or music but still hear traffic, other runners and cyclists, and animals on the trail in the background.

Other features

Here are some other features of my Jabra Elite 75t earbuds that I really like:

• Jabra understands that earbuds are not one-size-fits-all. So there are three different options for sizes so that they fit comfortably for the user.

It’s no exaggeration that Jabra Elite 75t earbuds offer the best audio experience of any that I have tried. Part of the reason is their MySound technology, which optimizes to the user via an in-app hearing test, and is then calibrated on the headphones. It’s so good that I may be listening to more music, rather than podcasts, when wearing the Jabras. Learn more about how the technology works.

• Admittedly, I haven’t tried this yet. But Jabra says the earbuds are voice assistant enabled, so the user can link up with Siri or Google Assistant.

Conclusion

There is so much to like about the Jabra Elite 75t earbuds, as I have detailed here. The only drawback to me personally is the fear of one (or both) slipping out during a run or bike ride and not being able to find it.

The fit is good so that is not the issue. The concern I have has more to do with the jostling from the movement, combined with sweat, and whether they will loosen the earbuds enough so they fall out. I’m not familiar enough with them at this point to be comfortable in saying one way or another if that is a legitimate worry.

That aside the Jabra Elite 75t earbuds offer superior sound quality, amazing ease of charging and other features that separate them from competitors. Jabra has taken the technology that gave endurance athletes the freedom to enjoy music and podcasts on the go, and created a dynamic listening experience for runners, cyclists and adventure seekers.
